Baby Cyrus recently came to my studio with his mom and dad for a newborn session. Olivia Acton Photography offers full newborn sessions in her studio located in Janesville, WI. These sessions include family combinations as well as baby only. Momma gets hair and make up done by our pro hair and makeup artist while I begin to work with baby. If mom brings a partner or other family member, they are seated in where they can keep mom company. This gives new parents a short break to relax and enjoy themselves.

We are “baby lead” which means that we follow the baby’s cues for posing! If baby is fussy, we will start with wrapped poses. If baby is sleepy we will start with poses where baby is showing more skin! If the baby isn’t loving a certain pose, then we skip it. “Baby lead” is so important to ensure comfort of the newborn baby. Newborn sessions end up going much smoother if we don’t force poses baby isn’t digging.

Cyrus wasn’t loving being naked so we went ahead and swaddled him up. Once swaddled, he was able to relax and take a good nap!

This sweet little guy has the most angelic face! I absolutely love the blue plaid blanket for this time of year. Bonnets are not just for baby girls! As you can see, they look adorable on baby boys just as much! Once we got plenty of “baby only” portraits, I began incorporating dad into them while mom was finishing up hair and makeup.

Momma was ready to go, and looking glamourous! It is such a great experience for mom to have a little pampering especially because they just gave birth! If you have ever had a baby, you know that you just don’t feel like yourself sometimes. The hair and makeup gives a confidence boost and helps mom feel more like herself.

The family portraits also turned out beautifully!
